Yes, Sourcehut services appear to tick a lot of boxes, including an
“email first” bug tracker.
Longer-term, hosting the relevant services at gnu.tools seems like a
reasonable option. Of course, it means there must be volunteers taking
care of it; but if this “new GNU” is to grow beyond a certain critical
mass, it’s doable. Self-hosting is also very much in line, I think,
with the autonomy message that GNU is sending.
I agree that self-hosting would be a better look for GNU, but if done by
people who can’t dedicate enough time to maintaining the servers this
will eventually lead to bad press. (It is astonishing to me that there
have been no widely reported compromises of GNU servers yet.)
